We have a great opportunity for an experienced practitioner to join our Kinship Care team.
We are looking for someone who is degree qualified (preferably Social Work, Psychology and/or related behavioural sciences) and has experience working in a community service or similar role. You are great at building relationships and engaging with vulnerable children, young people and their families, and community stakeholders.

What you’ll be doing
You will be responsible for providing a case management service for children and young people residing in kinship care across the eastern suburbs. The role provides short and longer term support for children and young people in statutory kinship care placements, aimed at enhancing the child/ren’s development and family functioning whilst ensuring stability and safety of all family members including reducing risks to the children’s safety and wellbeing.
You will enjoy working collaboratively and have the capacity to exercise professional judgement to ensure excellent outcomes for our clients and the team.
What you will bring to the role
• Experience in child, youth and family welfare, with particular experience in Out of Home Care is highly desired.
• Sophisticated understanding of the legislative, policy and practice environment of Out of Home Care or a passion for learning.
• Skills and experience in supervision of carers is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience in case management.
• Well-developed organisational skills.
• An understanding of, and capacity to act accordingly to the principles and intent of the Children, Youth & Families Act 2005.
• Love working as part of a team.

We have a great opportunity for a skilled practitioner to join our Supporting Transitions team. You will provide direct case management and support to children and parents, as well as young people, so that they can successfully transition from out of home care.
We are looking for someone who is degree qualified (preferably Social Work, Psychology and/or related behavioural sciences) and experienced working in a community service, such as Family Services, Child Protection or a similar role.

What you’ll be doing
You will be working with the Supporting Transtions Team providing a range of supports to young people including transitioning from care, family reunification and family preservation support.
You have specialist knowledge of trauma informed practice including development, and a comprehensive understanding of the statutory system. You have excellent communication and relationship building skills, enjoy working as part of a team and have the capacity to exercise professional judgement to ensure excellent outcomes for our clients and the team.

- Other duties, as directed by the Team Leader- Child and Family (Supporting Transitions).

Student placement with Anchor
Anchor has a strong commitment to providing quality learning opportunities to students undertaking placements across the organisation.
A placement with Anchor ensures you will be surrounded by an encouraging and supportive team, receive regular supervision, and have professional development opportunities available.
We do, however, receive a large number of student placement requests each year and regrettably, we are unable to accommodate them all.
Frequently Asked Questions
What type of students do Anchor take for placement?
Anchor accepts a wide variety of students on placement each year. All students must be completing a qualification, in particular a Certificate IV and above.
A placement must be part of the course requirement, and students must be supported by their education provider to complete a placement with us.
I’m a student but my course doesn’t require me to complete a placement. Can I volunteer instead?
Due to the demand and number of applications we receive for student placements, unfortunately we are only able to accommodate people who are required to undertake placement. We are unable to provide volunteer student placements.
Do you take international students seeking an internship in Australia?
Regrettably, we can’t assist in your request for a placement or internship while you’re here in Australia.
Can I do my work experience at Anchor?
Given the nature of the work Anchor does and issues of client confidentiality, we do not have the capacity to offer these kinds of opportunities.
