Sunday 12 September commemorated the start of Foster Care Week 2021.
This year’s theme is about adaptability – Caring through COVID and the changed care environment. This year, much like the last has created some unique challenges for for our foster carers including but not limited to:
- Keeping children and young people safe and connected
- Taking on more responsibilities with caring whilst there has been limited access to additional supports eg: such as home schooling.
- Continued to work with Anchor’s Out of Home Care team, taking in their stride having to meet remotely and through limited face to face contact.
- Always keeping the children in their care their main priority.
Whilst we were disappointed our original plans for our celebrations had to be cancelled due to the ongoing restrictions, we want to ensure that each and everyone of our carers and valued, appreciated and recognised during this very special week. We hope to surprise our carers with some special deliveries this September as a small token of our appreciation.
This week is all about celebrating and thanking our volunteer carers who are truly remarkable people and continue to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable young people in the community.
