As we start to see the impact of COVID-19 escalate in Victoria, there has been increasing awareness and acknowledgement that those who are experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of homelessness (due to financial difficulties a result of COVID-19) may be at higher risk of infection. Lack of access to hygiene facilities, shelter or protection from others are just some of the risk exposures individuals and families face.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Anchor has seen a dramatic increase demand for emergency accommodation with as many as 105 individuals and families being supported in the south east.
Anchor have supported these families by providing food, entertainment for children, and mobile devices to obtain vital COVID-19 related information.
