Supporting young people in crisis

“Your help today has meant so much; Anchor really seems to have options for young people in crisis to live a better life, makes me smile!”- A big part of what we do at Anchor is working with young people to make sure they have a safe place to live their best life, so hearing comments like this makes us smile too!

Can you help Thomas?

“Hi, my name is Thomas; I am 13 years old and I need a safe place to live, because I can’t live at home anymore.
I love watching the footy, and playing sport, and I like school. People think I am naughty, but I am just scared. I try to be good, but sometimes it all gets too much. I struggle to make friends, because I don’t think I am good enough.
Can you help me?”

Please contact Anchor’s Foster Carer Recruitment team on 8761 9040 to help Thomas and many other local kids that need a safe, secure and stable place to call home.

Certificate 1 (Developing Independence) Graduation

Support for Young People clients recently participated in the Cert 1 in Developing Independence, run in partnership with the Brotherhood of St Laurence and Holmesglen TAFE.  Last night we proudly recognised their achievements at a graduation ceremony.
Participants were part of a pilot which was extremely successful.  Thanks to these guys Anchor has gained funding to continue this course, partnering with BSL and the local Box Hill TAFE (Lilydale campus)!
A very special acknowledgement (and thanks) to Megan and Anna who were integral to it’s success, so big well done to them!

Spring Gardening!

Thanks to Bunnings Bayswater and Jean, Boyd & John from the Lions for helping our “Support for Young People” team getting the yards ready for Spring.
