Thank you City Life!

Our teams have been extremely busy spreading Christmas cheer over the past couple of weeks. Thanks to the generosity of everyone at City Life Church we have been able to bring joy to many local children, who may otherwise not have received a gift this year. Thank you City Life for your ongoing support. Merry Christmas!

Best wishes for the festive season!

Our ‘Opening Doors’ team will be open tomorrow (Monday) 9.00- 5.00, with last minute pantry items (some limited gifts also available) for local families. You can call us on 9760 6400, or drop in at Jarlo Drive Lilydale (above the library).

LIFT program, thanks to Knox Council

We are looking forward to continuing our L.I.F.T. Project next year, thanks to Knox City Council and their Community Development Fund Grant Program.

L.I.F.T stands for Learning, Inspiration, Family and Timeout, supporting Foster Carers in their roles and providing ongoing opportunities including education, school holiday activities, family gatherings, carer events, mentoring program, guest speakers & peer support.
If you’d like more information about Anchor’s Foster Care program please contact Nicky C on 8761 9040.

Food donations for local families

If you are looking for a way to help someone this holiday season, here is a quick & easy idea! Grab a “blue bag” and fill it with groceries that we can pass on to a local family. The food doesn’t have to be festive or fancy, but items that can help create simple meals are great (no perishables please). Bags can be dropped at our offices or at our outreach posts (feel free to message us for more details). We would love to receive 20 bags, to help us support people throughout the holidays- Can you help us by providing one?

Keyboard wanted

Do you have a keyboard that you no longer use?

We are currently working with someone that would love to get back to making music. If you have a keyboard in great condition please let us know.
** UPDATE: We got one!! 🎹 Thanks very much to everyone that shared 🎵🎶🎵🎶

Outreach back at Warburton

We are excited to have returned to the ADRA Redwood Community Centre for outreach appointments!
If you are experiencing homelessness, or at risk of homelessness around the Yarra Valley, we are here to offer support and advice.
Just give us a ring on 9760 6400 and let us know if you’d prefer to see us at Lilydale, Warburton, Healesivlle or Yarra Junction.

Supporting young people in crisis

“Your help today has meant so much; Anchor really seems to have options for young people in crisis to live a better life, makes me smile!”- A big part of what we do at Anchor is working with young people to make sure they have a safe place to live their best life, so hearing comments like this makes us smile too!

Client Feedback

We love hearing feedback from people we’ve worked with, like this great result: “They (Anchor Housing Support team) helped me to think about what I want for myself, what my goals are and how I can achieve those goals. Without their help I wouldn’t have got to the place I am at now.”.

If you’d like to discuss what you loved about Anchor, or any ways we can improve our services, please contact your worker, or one of our managers.

Kinship Care groups

For children who can’t live with their own immediate family, the preferred option is sometimes to live with someone they know, such as an extended family member.

If you are currently caring for a child in an arrangement like this, please contact us to find out about our Kinship Care groups-

National Children’s Week 2018

The theme of this year’s Children’s Week promotes UNCRC Article 12 insisting that “Children’s views and opinions are respected. They have the right to express those views freely in all matteNCW2018rs affecting the child and the right to be heard.”

We’d like to remind every child that you have the right to give your opinion, and for adults to listen and take it seriously.

At Anchor, we are committed to the safety and well-being of all children and young people participating in our programs, and the welfare of the children in our care will always be our first priority.  We aim to create a culturally safe and child friendly environment.

If you are a young person needing to speak to someone, you can talk to a safe adult you know (like an older relative, your case manager, a teacher, or one of your friend’s parents), or call Kids Helpline on 1800 55 1800.
