As part of White Ribbon‘s 16 Days of Activism, CEO Heidi Tucker and James Collins attended a White Ribbon Breakfast hosted by our three local councils: Knox City Council, Maroondah City Council and Yarra Ranges Council. The focus of the breakfast was to raise awareness of family violence and its consequences on victims as employees. The event attended by representatives of business and government were saddened by the statistics surrounding family violence, and all are keen to ensure victims receive support and consideration in their workplace to deal with their home situation. The meeting heard from a survivor who is living proof that family violence effects all socio-economic groups and victims can come from all walks of life.
The three councils, in collaboration with specialist family violence and health services, are keen to continue the dialogue with business and to provide resources and assistance to develop capacity to deal with the effects of family violence in the workplace.
We also participated in the local Lake Walk at Lilydale Lake to show Anchor’s support for ending violence against women and promoting gender equity. Thanks to Yarra Ranges Council for organising such a great event.
